4 Healthy Ways to Lose Weight

Share the news:

Society always tells us that we, especially women, should look a certain way and have these small body measurements. Especially today that media continues to impose standards of beauty, weight loss obsession has become a problem.

Aiming to lose weight is not an issue per se. In fact, cutting down on body fat helps keep us in good shape. It only becomes a problem when we resort to unhealthy ways to lose weight, such as starving and over-tiring ourselves at the gym. From the obsession to lose weight comes a lot of diseases like anorexia that may require specialized treatment.

Starving yourself might seem effective but at the expense of your physical and mental health. There are better ways to get rid of body fat. Here are healthier and more ideal weight loss solutions.

Intermittent fasting

Intermittent fasting has grown in popularity over the years. It involves eating your meals at a certain period and fasting for the rest of the day. The most popular method of intermittent fasting has an eight-hour window throughout the day where you can eat as much as you can and then fasting for the remaining 16 hours. More extreme methods would involve fasting for two out of seven days a week.

Intermittent fasting is a better option compared to eating little amounts of food per meal. Studies show it has helped overweight individuals lose tremendous amounts of weight. With this diet method, you’re still giving your body the nutrients and minerals it needs. The only catch is you’re adhering to a healthy eating pattern, so you avoid overeating.

Mindful eating

Because of our fast-paced and busy lifestyles, we often eat quickly or do other things while eating. We eat in the car, while working, while watching TV, etc. But maybe it’s time to start paying attention to our food to enjoy it more and maintain a good weight. Paying more attention to your food while you eat will help your brain determine when you have eaten enough. It then sends signals to your body that you are full, stopping you from overeating.

Reducing sugar intake

Diet is not about depriving yourself of food; it’s about eating right. If there’s something that you should deprive yourself of, however, it’s sugar. Too much sugar intake can lead to obesity, diabetes, and a bunch of other health risks.

Try to cut back on sugar and choose alternatives such as rice, bread, pasta, fruits, and nuts. These food items are easier to digest and can convert glucose faster, which means that they don’t store fat and promote weight gain.

Eating protein-rich food for breakfast

Protein rich healthy food

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Many of us, however, choose to eat a light meal for breakfast, which is not enough to keep our tummy satisfied throughout the day. Swap your breakfast cereals with protein-rich food such as eggs, oats, porridge, etc. Protein has a direct impact on your appetite. So the more protein you consume during breakfast, the fuller you feel throughout the day. Eating protein-rich food first thing in the morning can suppress your hunger, hence helping with weight loss.

There are other healthier ways to lose weight than extreme diet practices. So instead of resorting to risky methods, start living a healthy lifestyle that includes exercising and eating properly.
